My name is John Dadzie.  I am a professional basketball player and comedy basketball trickster.  I am also a personal trainer, life coach and motivational speaker.

 

I was born in Germany, grew up in England and spent my teen years in Zimbabwe, Africa.  A high school basketball team came to Zimbabwe for an exhibition. After watching them play, I fell in love with the game of basketball.  That night, my dream was born.  I wanted to come to the United States to play Division I college basketball and go on to play professionally.  By the grace of God, I went on to play for the Southern Illinois University Salukis and have played professionally for the last 15 years.

 

Through this experience and journey, I’ve been able to accomplish many things.  Basketball has allowed me to get a scholarship to Southern Illinois University, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Education.  Those studies have helped my career in personal training and health management.  Basketball has also allowed me to travel to almost every continent around the world and play the game I love.  My travels have broadened my horizons and enabled me to relate to and understand people from many cultures, which in turn greatly contributes to my passion of helping people as a life coach.  In addition, I've had the pleasure of performing with a comedy basketball team for 10 years as their main ball handler and motivational speaker.  It was during my time spent with the Harlem Rockets Comedy Basketball Team that I was able to hone my public speaking skills and truly come to appreciate the impact I can have on our youth with my personal story.

 

 

Through all the success I have experienced, I realize that nothing really matters but people – especially kids who are the next generation.  I was able to get to where I am because someone inspired me and I want to be that person for someone else.  My company, Skyz the Limit, allows me to travel the country inspiring kids to reach their true potential.  My message is simple but is and always has been a true reflection of my personal experience and story.
